Icehotel
Now at Icehotel

Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland, is where the whole idea of sleeping in ice began. It was the first hotel of its kind in the world, and it is still rebuilt every winter using ice from the nearby Torne River. Artists come to design the rooms, so no two seasons look the same.
When spring arrives, the winter part of Icehotel slowly melts back into the river. For guests who come outside the season, there is Icehotel 365, a permanent building that stays open all year round. Lapland skies on clear winter nights also give you a good chance to see the northern lights.
